Is your character a Mary-Sue?
One of the main things that determines a Mary-Sue is how they fit in with the rest of the fandom. The better the OC, the better they are camouflaged into the fandom. A Mary-Sue will stick out like a Weeaboo in Ikea. NEVER use a poorly developed canon character to excuse a Mary-Sue. Its like saying that Jack the Ripper wasn't bad because there were other murderers before him.
Do all their powers/skills belong in the fandom? Let's say your OC could use a little magic. If they were in the Hunger Games, they'd be a Mary-Sue, but they'd be considered weak in Harry Potter. It would also be pretty normal for someone in our time to speak both Japane

Clarifying Mary Sue
So, I realize that everyone has heard of Mary Sue characters, but the thing that bothers me is that Mary has never really been as clarified as she could be. Girls go around crying Mary Sue at every character with long pink hair, then go and create even worse Mary Sue characters in the false illusion that they're making nonMary Sue characters (or even anti-Sues) when in fact they're doing the opposite. Allow me to explain how this seems to happen.
First of all the term "Mary Sue" desperately needs to be clarified to these people, so this brings us to the very important question: What IS a

Mary Sues in 9 Simple Steps
How to Create a Mary Sue in Nine Simple Steps!
So easy, even Stephanie Meyer can do it!
Step Number One: Create a Name
Just like the title suggests, the first step is to come up with a super fantabulous name! Make sure that it's nice and long, having at least a first, middle, and last name, or more! If you're having trouble, use something shiny or attractive, such as gems, colors, precious minerals, flowers, or generally pleasing things like "Star" or "Sunshine". Mixing two or more pleasing words into one is also acceptable!
If you're going for a darker-type Mary Sue, perhaps one that all the other characters fear or one who's stereotypic

Finally, I have the second part of part seven! Anyway, if any part of this guide breaks dA's rules, please let me know so I can change it. I've tried keeping it within dA's boundaries, but there are some things that are confusing, especially when it comes to writing tutorials and the fact that this isn't fiction. For example, there's a rule where it's OK if you draw an erected penis if it's for educational purposes. I do not wish to get reported, and am willing to change parts if it breaks a rule (how many writers are willing to do that much?). Savvy?

I'm planning on writing a sex scene for a future fanfic. I came to this to help me write a sex scene, and do so in a way that doesn't violate DeviantArt's rules. Hopefully, this guide will be a good starting point. Thanks for writing this.
